Terms and Conditions for Registered Users

In addition to the Legal Notices posted on the Jersey Law website and to any additional or specific arrangements with any individual User, the following Terms and Conditions and supplementary Terms and Conditions apply to persons requiring access to the Registered Part of the Jersey Law website.  In using and accessing the site and, where appropriate, paying a Commercial User’s Charge, you are accepting such Terms and Conditions and will be bound by them.

Definition of expressions in the Terms and Conditions.

In the Terms and Conditions the following expressions have the meanings here assigned to them:

Commercial User: a Registered User of the website deemed by the Jersey Legal Information Board to gain commercial advantage from such use.

Commercial Users’ Charge: the fee payable by Commercial Users for accessing that part of the Jersey Law website to which access is restricted.

End Date: The date on which a Commercial User’s period of charge and access ends.

JLIB: Jersey Legal Information Board.

Registered User: A User who has been granted access to that part of the Jersey Law website known as the Registered Part to which access is limited by virtue of payment or exemption status.

Registered Part of the Jersey Law website: That part of the Jersey Law website to which access is generally limited and only granted subject to the Terms and Conditions.

Restricted Area: Area of the Registered Part of the Jersey Law website which contains sensitive material, and to which only approved users have access.

Start Date: The date from which a Commercial User’s period of charge and access commences.

User: Any person, partnership, limited partnership, company, organisation, institution or other entity accessing the Jersey Law website.

Terms and Conditions

·        Information will be accessed only by the individual Registered User, (accounts must not be shared).

·        Registered Users undertake not to disclose username or password details to any other User.

·        Passwords and User Names will be susceptible to change entirely at the discretion and/or request of JLIB.

·        Information accessed by the Registered User will be used only for purposes authorised by JLIB.

·        The Registered User will comply with all Data Protection and related legislation, rules and regulations wherever operable and applicable to the Registered User as a User, processor or operator of electronic information systems.

·        Information accessed by the Registered User in either the Registered Part or the Restricted Area of the Jersey Law website must not be further published without permission from JLIB.

·        It is acknowledged that the States of Jersey, the Royal Court of Jersey and all relevant bodies, organs and agencies of the States of Jersey (including JLIB) retain all copyright to information accessed. All other rights are similarly reserved.

·        JLIB will endeavour to ensure the accuracy of information contained on its website. However, the States of Jersey, the Royal Court of Jersey and all relevant bodies, organs and agencies of the States of Jersey (including JLIB) give no undertaking that the website is free of errors and/or omissions and accept no liability whatsoever for any loss or damage caused to any User or other party in reliance upon it.

·        Subject to the supplementary Terms and Conditions applicable to a Commercial User, the status of Registered User will be conferred, denied or removed entirely at the discretion of JLIB.

·        A Registered User may not assign, transfer, delegate or dispose of any rights or obligations as a Registered User without the prior permission, in writing, of JLIB.

·        The Terms and Conditions will be susceptible to change or amendment entirely at the discretion of JLIB.

·        JLIB reserves the rights to monitor usage of its website to ensure compliance with all Terms and Conditions of use by Users.

Supplementary Terms and  Conditions for Commercial Users

·        Subject to these supplementary Terms and Conditions a Commercial User will be entitled to access the Registered area of the JLIB website from the Start Date to the End Date, inclusive.

·        A Commercial User will pay the Commercial User’s Charge to JLIB within 30 days of JLIB rendering an invoice to the Commercial User (which invoice may be rendered in hard-copy or electronically).

·        If a Commercial User fails to pay the commercial charge as invoiced by JLIB within the 30 days, JLIB will have the right immediately to deny the defaulting Commercial User access to the Registered part of the JLIB website.

·        JLIB reserves the right to revise, increase or otherwise vary the Commercial Users’ Charge before a Start Date or following an End Date.

Supplementary Terms and Conditions for online payments

·        JLIB do not provide refunds for any document purchased nor allow cancellations and refunds of temporary registration payments
