to amend the Health Insurance (Jersey) Law, 1967, sanctioned by Order of Her
Majesty in Council of the
26th day of JANUARY, 1968.

THE STATES, subject to the sanction of
Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law : -
ARTICLE 1
(1) In
paragraph (1) of Article 1 of the Health Insurance (Jersey) Law, 1967, (hereinafter referred to as “the principal
Law”) –
(a) before the definition
“the appointed day”, there shall be inserted the following
definition –
“ ‘adult dependant’ has the meaning assigned thereto
by Article 4A ;”
(b) in the definition
“dependant” after the words “child of the family” there
shall be inserted the words “, an adult dependant”.
(2) After
Article 4 of the principal Law there shall be inserted the following Article
–
“ARTICLE 4A
ADULT DEPENDANT
For the purposes of this Law, a person is an adult dependant of an
insured person if –
(a) he is not a child of
the family or the dependent wife of an insured person ;
(b) he proves to the
satisfaction of the Committee that he is wholly or mainly maintained by the
insured person ;
(c) he bears such
relationship to the insured person as may be prescribed ; and
(d) he fulfills such other
conditions as may be prescribed.”
ARTICLE 2
(1) After
paragraph (1) of Article 17 of the principal Law there shall be inserted the
following paragraph –
“(1A) In
the case of a person (other than a person of any such class as is referred to
in paragraph (2) of this Article) who enters into insurance on or after the
first day of April, 1968, paragraph (1) of this Article shall have effect as if
for the reference to thirteen contribution weeks there were substituted a
reference to twenty-six contribution weeks.”
(2) In
paragraph (2) of the said Article 17 for the words “paragraph (1)”
there shall be substituted the words “paragraphs (1) and (1A)”.
ARTICLE 3
This Law may be cited as the Health Insurance (Amendment) (Jersey)
Law, 1968.
