PRISON (AMENDMENT) (JERSEY) LAW, 1973.

A LAW to
amend the Prison (Jersey) Law, 1957, sanctioned by Order of Her Majesty in
Council of the
12th day of DECEMBER, 1973.

THE STATES, subject to the sanction of
Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law: -
ARTICLE 1
In Article 7 of the Prison (Jersey) Law, 1957,
(hereinafter referred to as “the principal Law”) –
(a) in paragraph (3) for
the words “The States may make Regulations” there shall be
substituted the words “The Prison Board may make Orders”.
(b) after paragraph (3)
there shall be inserted the following paragraphs –
“(4) Before
making Orders in relation to any of the matters dealt with in sub-paragraphs
(a), (b), (c) and (e) of paragraph (3) of this Article, the Prison Board shall
consult the Establishment Committee.
(5) The
Subordinate Legislation (Jersey) Law, 1960 shall
apply to Orders made under this Article.”
ARTICLE 2
(1) This
Law may be cited as the Prison (Amendment) (Jersey) Law, 1973.
(2) Any
regulations or decision made by the States under the principal Law and in force
immediately before the coming into force of this Law shall continue in force
until otherwise determined by the Prison Board.
