MOTOR TRAFFIC (THIRD-PARTY INSURANCE) (AMENDMENT No. 4) (JERSEY)

amend further the Motor Traffic (Third-Party Insurance) (Jersey) Law, 1948,
sanctioned by Order of Her Majesty in Council of the
14th day of MARCH, 1979.

THE STATES, subject to the sanction of
Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law: -
ARTICLE 1
In Article 2 of the Motor Traffic (Third-Party Insurance) (Jersey)
Law, 1948, as amended, for
paragraph (2) there shall be substituted the following paragraph –
“(2) Any
person who acts in contravention of this Article shall be liable –
(a) in the case
of a first offence, to a fine not exceeding two hundred pounds, or to
imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months, or to both such fine and
such imprisonment; and
(b) in the case
of a second or subsequent offence to a fine not exceeding five hundred pounds,
or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding eighteen months, or to both such
fine and such imprisonment.”
ARTICLE 2
This Law may be cited as the Motor Traffic (Third-Party Insurance)
(Amendment No. 4) (Jersey) Law, 1979, and this Law and the Motor Traffic
(Third-Party Insurance) (Jersey) Laws, 1948 to 1972,
may be cited together as the Motor Traffic (Third-Party Insurance) (Jersey)
Laws, 1948 to 1979.
