FINANCIAL SERVICES COMMISSION (AMENDMENT) (JERSEY) LAW 1998

A LAW   to amend the Financial Services Commission (Jersey) Law 1998, sanctioned by Order of Her Majesty in Council of the

THE STATES, subject to the sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law –

ARTICLE 1

In Article 3 of the Financial Services Commission (Jersey) Law 19981 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Law”) –

(a)     in paragraph (1) –

(i)      for the comma at the end of sub-paragraph (b) there shall be substituted a full stop; and

(ii)     the words “such appointments being made by the Committee and notified to the States” shall be deleted; and

(b)     after paragraph (1) there shall be inserted the following paragraph –

“(1A)   The Commissioners shall be appointed by the States from persons nominated by the Committee and such appointments shall be debated in camera.”.

ARTICLE 2

In sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (1) of Article 12 of the principal Law2 after the words “any other matters” there shall be inserted the words “relating to financial services”.

ARTICLE 3

This Law may be cited as the Financial Services Commission (Amendment) (Jersey) Law 1998 and shall come into force on such day as the States may by Act appoint.
