SOCIAL SECURITY (AMENDMENT No. 11) (JERSEY) LAW 1995

A LAW       to amend further the Social Security (Jersey) Law 1974, sanctioned by Order of Her Majesty in Council of the

THE STATES, subject to the sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law –

ARTICLE 1

In Article 7 of the Social Security (Jersey) Law 1974,1 as amended (hereinafter referred to as the “principal Law”), in paragraph (2), for the amount “£50” there shall be substituted the words “level 2 on the standard scale2”.

ARTICLE 2

In Article 35 of the principal Law,3 in paragraph (3) –

(a)     for the amount “£200” there shall be substituted the words “level 2 on the standard scale²”; and

(b)     for the amount “£50” there shall be substituted the words “level 1 on the standard scale4”.

ARTICLE 3

In Article 36 of the principal Law5 –

(a)     in paragraph (1) –

(i)      after the words “liable under this Law to pay” there shall be inserted the words “within the time prescribed in respect of that contribution”, and

(ii)     for the amount “£1,000” there shall be substituted the words “level 3 on the standard scale⁴”;

(b)     in paragraph (2) –

(i)      for the word “remitted” there shall be substituted the word “paid”, and

(ii)     for the word “remittance” there shall be substituted the word “payment”;

(c)     in paragraph (3), for the amount “£1,000” there shall be substituted the words “level 4 on the standard scale⁴”; and

(d)     in paragraph (4) –

(i)      for the amount “£200” in each place where it appears, there shall be substituted the words “level 2 on the standard scale⁴”, and

(ii)     for the amount “£50” there shall be substituted the words “level 1 on the standard scale⁴”.

ARTICLE 4

In Article 38 of the principal Law,6 for the words “three years” there shall be substituted the words “ten years”.

ARTICLE 5

In Article 39 of the principal Law,7 in paragraph (3), for the amount “£50” there shall be substituted the words “level 2 on the standard scale⁷”.

ARTICLE 6

This Law may be cited as the Social Security (Amendment No. 11) (Jersey) Law 1995 and shall come into force on such day as the States may by Act appoint, and different days may be appointed for different provisions and for different purposes.
