PHARMACY, POISONS AND MEDICINES (EXTENSION OF PROVISIONS) (JERSEY)

A LAW to
extend the provisions of the Pharmacy, Poisons and Medicines (Jersey) Law, 1952
to provide for controlling the use of certain poisons, sanctioned by Order of
Her Majesty in Council of the
14th day of NOVEMBER, 1974.

THE STATES, subject to the sanction of
Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law: -
ARTICLE 1
The power of the Public Health Committee under the Pharmacy,
Poisons and Medicines (Jersey) Law, 1952 as
amended, (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Law”)
to control the sale of poisons and medicines is hereby extended to include the
power to control the use of poisons.
ARTICLE 2
In paragraph (1) of Article 15 of the principal Law –
(a) for the words
“two parts” there shall be substituted the words “three
parts”;
(b) after the second
sub-paragraph there shall be inserted the following sub-paragraph –
“Part III of the list shall consist of those poisons which
are not to be used except by a person or body authorised in writing by the
Committee to use such poisons as may be specified in the authorisation, subject
to such conditions as may be so specified.”
ARTICLE 3
In paragraph (2) of Article 27 of the principal Law for the words “sale or supply” there
shall be substituted the words “sale, use or supply”.
ARTICLE 4
This Law may be cited as the Pharmacy, Poisons and Medicines
(Extension of Provisions) (Jersey) Law, 1974, and this Law and the Pharmacy,
Poisons and Medicines (Jersey) Laws, 1952 to 1959 may be cited together as the
Pharmacy, Poisons and Medicines (Jersey) Laws, 1952 to 1974.
