POLICE FORCE (AMENDMENT No. 7) (JERSEY) LAW 1998

A LAW   to amend further the Police Force (Jersey) Law 1974, sanctioned by Order of Her Majesty in Council of the

THE STATES, subject to the sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law –

ARTICLE 1

In Article 9 of the Police Force (Jersey) Law 1974,1 as amended2

(a)     in the title the words “and Deputy Chief Officer” shall be inserted after the word “Officer”;

(b)     after paragraph (4) there shall be inserted the following paragraphs –

“(5)        The Deputy Chief Officer shall be appointed by the Committee on such terms as to salary and conditions of service as the Committee may, from time to time, determine.

(6)          In the event of the absence, incapacity, suspension or vacancy in the office of the Chief Officer, the functions of his office shall be discharged by the Deputy Chief Officer.”.

ARTICLE 2

Article 3 of the Police Force (Amendment No. 2) (Jersey) Law 19823 is repealed.

ARTICLE 3

This Law may be cited as the Police Force (Amendment No. 7) (Jersey) Law 1998 and shall come into force on such day as the States may by Act appoint.
