MEDICINES (SALE AND SUPPLY) (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) (AMENDMENT No. 3) (JERSEY) ORDER 2001

                THE HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES COMMITTEE, in pursuance of Articles 52, 65, 66, 84 and 111 of the Medicines (Jersey) Law 1995,[1] and after consultation with the Medicines Advisory Council and having otherwise complied with Article 111 of that Law, orders as follows -

 

                1.      In Article 4 of the Medicines (Sale and Supply) (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Jersey) Order 1997,[2] as amended[3] -

 

                (a)     for the words “paragraphs (2), (3) and (4)” there shall be substituted “the following paragraphs”; and

 

                (b)     after paragraph (4) there shall be inserted the following paragraphs -

 

          “(5)   Where the medicinal product is for human use and contains mepyramine maleate, the product shall be presented for sale in a separate and individual container or package containing not more than 20 grams of the product.

 

          (6)     Where the medicinal product is for human use and contains bisacodyl, the product shall be presented for sale in a separate and individual container or package containing not more than 20 tablets.

 

          (7)     Where the medicinal product is for human use and contains heparinoid, the product shall be presented for sale in a separate and individual container or package containing not more than 20 grams of the product.”.

 

                2.      This Order may be cited as the Medicines (Sale and Supply) (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment No. 3) (Jersey) Order 2001 and shall come into force on the first day of February 2001.

Medicines (Sale and Supply) (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment No. 3) (Jersey) Order 2001

This Order further amends the Medicines (Sale and Supply) (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Jersey) Order 1997 by amending Article 4 of that Order (pack size for certain medicinal products on a general sale list) to provide that medicinal products containing mepyramine maleate, bisacodyl or heparinoid and which are on the general sale list may be sold or supplied from outlets other than registered pharmacies only in separate and individual containers or packages containing not more than 20 grams of the product in the cases of heparinoid and mepyramine maleate, and not more than 20 tablets in the case of bisacodyl.

 

The Order, which was made by the Health and Social Services Committee on 10th January 2001, will come into force on 1st February 2001.
