Vehicle Registration (General Provisions) (Amendment No. 22) (Jersey) Order 2022

1 Order amended
This Order amends the Motor Vehicle Registration
(General Provisions) (Jersey) Order 1993.
2 Schedule 5
(requirements as to registration marks) amended
In Schedule 5 –
(a) in paragraph 6(3)
after “motor cycle” there is inserted “or moped”;
(b) for paragraph 7
there is substituted –
“7 Provisions for display relating to paragraphs 8 and 9
(1) In
this paragraph “distinguishing mark” means a distinguishing mark displayed in
accordance with a diagram in Schedule 11 or 12 of the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences)
(Jersey) Order 2003.
(2) Material
or information must not be displayed on a number plate within the margins
specified in a table in paragraph 8 or 9 except –
(a) the
registration mark;
(b) material
complying with the requirements of the relevant British Standards with which
such plates are required to comply by this Order.
(3) For
the purposes of a table in paragraph 8 or 9, where a margin between all or
part of a registration mark and the edge of a number plate includes the white
area of a distinguishing mark, that margin is measured to the edge of the white
area that is nearest the registration mark, not to the edge of the number
plate.
(4) In
paragraphs 8 and 9 references to a character do not include anything that
forms part of a distinguishing mark.”;
(c) in the left-hand column
of the table in paragraph 8(5) for “Top, side & bottom margin” there
is substituted –
“Top, side and
bottom margins (minimum)”;

(d) in the left-hand column
of the table in paragraph 9(4) for “Top, side & bottom margin” there
is substituted –
“Top, side &
bottom margins (minimum)”.

3 Citation and commencement
This Order may be cited as the Motor Vehicle Registration (General
Provisions) (Amendment No. 22) (Jersey) Order 2022 and comes into force 7 days
after it is made.
