Shipping (Registration) (Amendment - Sanctions) (Jersey) Regulations 2022

THE STATES make these Regulations under Article 13 of the Shipping (Jersey) Law 2002 –

1        Shipping (Registration) (Jersey) Regulations 2004 amended

These Regulations amend the Shipping (Registration) (Jersey) Regulations 2004.

2        Regulation 2A (implementation of sanctions) inserted

After Regulation 2 there is inserted –

“2A   Implementation of sanctions

Despite any other provision of these Regulations, the Registrar must –

(a)     refuse to register a ship;

(b)     terminate the registration of a ship; or

(c)     take any other action in connection with the registration of a ship,

where it appears to the Registrar to be necessary for the purposes of giving effect to a provision made by or under the Sanctions and Asset-Freezing (Jersey) Law 2019.”.

3        Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Shipping (Registration) (Amendment – Sanctions) (Jersey) Regulations 2022 and come into force on the day after they are made.
