Terrorism (Proscribed Organizations) (Amendment) (Jersey) Order 2003

Made                                                                             31st July 2003

Coming into force                                                  1st September 2003

THE HOME AFFAIRS COMMITEE, in pursuance of Article 6(3)(a) and (c) of the Terrorism (Jersey) Law 2002,[1] orders as follows –

1        Proscribed organizations added

Schedule 1 to the Terrorism (Jersey) Law 2002 shall be amended –

(a)     by adding at the end of the list of proscribed organizations[2] the following organizations –

Abu Sayyaf Group

Asbat Al-Ansar

Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan

Jemaah Islamiyah;

(b)     by adding the following note at the end of the Schedule[3] –

“Note: The entry for Jemaah Islamiyah refers to the organization using that name that is based in south-east Asia, members of which were arrested by the Singapore authorities in December 2001 in connection with a plot to attack US and other Western targets in Singapore.”.

2        Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Terrorism (Proscribed Organizations) (Amendment) (Jersey) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 1st September 2003.
