(Pedestrian Crossings) (Amendment No. 2) (Jersey)

THE MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT AND TECHNICAL SERVICES, in pursuance of Articles 69 and
84 of the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956[1], orders as follows –
1 Interpretation
In this Order, “principal Order”
means the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) (Jersey) Order 1982[2].
2 Article
1 amended
In Article 1(1) of the principal Order, after the definition
“ ‘Pelican’ crossing” there shall be inserted the
following definition –
“ ‘public
service vehicle’ has the same meaning as in the Motor Traffic (Jersey)
Law 1935[3];”.
3 Article
14 amended
In Article 14(2) of the principal Order, after the word
“Articles” there shall be inserted the number “16A,”.
4 Article
15 amended
In Article 15 of the principal Order, for the words
“Article 17” there shall be substituted the words
“Articles 16A and 17,”.
5 Article
16A inserted
After Article 16 of the principal Order there shall be inserted
the following Article –
“16A Exception
for public service vehicle stopping on approach to crossing
A public service vehicle
shall not, by Article 14, be prevented from stopping in a zebra controlled
area or, by Article 15, be prevented from stopping in the approach to a
“Pelican” crossing indicated in accordance with Schedule 5,
where the driver of the vehicle causes the vehicle to stop at a stand
established by a Minister under Article 37(2) or (3) of the Motor Traffic
(Jersey) Law 1935 for public service vehicles of a class or description to
which the vehicle belongs.”.
6 Citation
and commencement
This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings)
(Amendment No. 2) (Jersey) Order 2008 and shall come into force
7 days after it is made.
