Road Traffic
(Public Parking Places) (Amendment No. 12)
(Jersey) Order 2016

THE MINISTER FOR INFRASTRUCTURE, in pursuance of Articles 59 and 84 of
the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956[1], orders as follows –
1 Interpretation
In this Order “principal Order”
means the Road Traffic (Public Parking Places) (Jersey) Order 2006[2].
2 Article 1
amended
In Article 1(1) of the principal Order –
(a) for
sub-paragraph (c) of the definition “controlling body”, there is
substituted the following sub-paragraph –
“(c) the Minister for Economic
Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture in the case of the parking places
STB5A, STB28, STB29, STH6, STH21, STH29, STH30, STH31, STH32, STC6, STS3, STS8 and
STS9; or”;
(b) after
the definition “Registration Law” there shall be inserted the
following definition –
“ ‘school
term time’ means any part of the year during which a child is required to
attend school;”.
3 Article 5
amended
In Article 5 of the principal Order –
(a) in paragraph (1),
for the words “A person must not park” there shall be substituted
the words “Except in relation to parking place STH20A,
a person must not park”;
(b) after
paragraph (1), there shall be added the following paragraph –
“(1A) A person must not park a vehicle in parking
place STH20A during the pay period specified in Part 1
of Schedule 3 in respect of that parking place unless a valid pay card or
a valid permit is displayed on the vehicle.”.
4 Schedule 1
amended
In Schedule 1 of the principal Order –
(a) in
Part 3 –
(i) after
the entry “People’s Park Car Park” there shall be inserted the
following entry –

“Pier Road Car Park Shopper Zone, level 1
|
STH20A”,
|
(ii) for
the words “Pier Road Car Park, levels 14 and 15” there shall
be substituted the words “Pier Road Car Park, levels 13, 14 and 15”,
(ii) for
the words “Pier Road Car Park (excluding levels 13, 14 and 15)”,
there shall be substituted the words “Pier Road Car Park (excluding
Shopper Zone, level 1 and levels 13, 14 and 15)”;
(b) at
the end of Part 11, the following entries shall be added –

“Langford Sports Centre Car Park
|
STS8
|
|
Oakfield Sports Centre Car Park
|
STS9”.

5 Schedule 2
amended
In Schedule 2 of the principal Order –
(a) in Part 2,
the entries “STH29 and STH30” shall be deleted;
(b) in
Part 3, after the entry “STH15”
there shall be inserted the entries “STH20A”
and “STH21”;
(c) in
Part 4, the entries “STB28”,
“STB29”, “STC6” and “STS3”
shall be deleted;
(d) in
Part 5, the entry “STH21” shall
be deleted;
(e) in Part 8,
the entry “STH6” shall be deleted;
(f) in
Part 13, after the entry “STB3A”,
there shall be inserted the entries “STH29”
and “STH30”;
(g) after
Part 16 there shall be added the following Parts –
The maximum parking period in
respect of any of the following parking places on any day except Saturday and
Sunday is a total period of 3 hours in any continuous period of
24 hours and on Saturday and Sunday is a total period of 8 hours in a
continuous period of 24 hours. A valid parking disc must be displayed on
the vehicle during the period when it is parked there.

The maximum parking period in
respect of the following parking places between 5.00 p.m. and 8.00 a.m.
on any day during school term time, and on any day that is not during school
term time, is 3 hours in any continuous period of 24 hours. A valid
parking disc must be displayed on the vehicle during the period when it is
parked there. A vehicle must not be parked there between 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
on any school day during term time unless a valid permit is displayed on the
vehicle during the period when it is parked there.
6 Schedule 3
amended
In Schedule 3 of the principal Order, in Part 1, after the
entry “STH20” there shall be inserted
the entry “STH20A”.
7 Citation
and commencement
This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Public Parking Places)
(Amendment No. 12) (Jersey) Order 2016 and shall come into force 7 days
after it is made.
