Police (Complaints and Discipline Procedures) (Amendment) (Jersey) Order 2005

THE HOME AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, in pursuance of Article 15 of the Police (Complaints and Discipline) (Jersey) Law 1999,[1] orders as follows –

1        Interpretation

In this Order, “principal Order” means the Police (Complaints and Discipline Procedure) (Jersey) Order 2000.[2]

2        Article 1 amended

In Article 1(1) of the principal Order, in the definition “presiding officer”, for the words “chief officer” there shall be substituted the words “police officer”.

3        Article 27 amended

In Article 27 of the principal Order –

(a)     in paragraph (1), for the words “chief officer of some other force” there shall be substituted the words “police officer of some other force of the rank specified in paragraph (4)”;

(b)     after paragraph (3), there shall be added the following paragraph –

“(4)    For the purposes of paragraph (1), the police officer of some other force shall be of at least the rank of assistant chief constable or of an equivalent rank in any other police force in the British Islands.”.

4        Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Police (Complaints and Discipline Procedure) (Amendment) (Jersey) Order 2005 and shall come into force on the day it is made.
