(Construction and Use) (Amendment No. 9) (Jersey)

THE MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT AND TECHNICAL
SERVICES, in
pursuance of Articles 77 and 84 of the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956[1], orders as follows –
1 Interpretation
In this Order, “principal Order” means the Motor
Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Jersey) Order 1998[2].
2 Article
1 amended
In Article 1(1) of the principal Order –
(a) for
the definition “low platform trailer” there shall be substituted
the following definition –
“ ‘low
platform trailer’ means a trailer fitted with tyres with a rim diameter
size code of less than 20;”;
(b) for
the definition “restricted speed vehicle” there shall be
substituted the following definition –
“ ‘restricted
speed vehicle’ means a vehicle of a class or description specified in
item (1) in Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956;”.
3 Article
107 replaced
For Article 107 of the principal Order there shall be substituted
the following Article –
“107 Displaying
of plates by restricted speed vehicles
(1) No person shall use, or cause or permit to
be used, on a road a restricted speed vehicle unless the vehicle displays in a
prominent position at the rear of the vehicle a circular plate in accordance
with the requirements of Schedule 15.
(2) No person shall use, or cause or permit to
be used, on a road a low platform trailer unless the trailer displays in a
prominent position at the rear of the trailer a rectangular plate
which –
(a) is at least 225 mm wide and at
least 175 mm high; and
(b) bears 2 black letters ‘L’ on a white ground, each at least
125 mm high and 90 mm wide with a stroke width of 12 mm.
(3) This Article does not apply to a vehicle
that –
(a) has been brought temporarily into Jersey, by
a person resident outside Jersey; and
(b) has not been in Jersey for a period of more
than 3 months.”.
4 Schedule
15 replaced
For Schedule 15 to the principal Order there shall be
substituted the Schedule set out in the Schedule to this Order.
5 Citation
and commencement
(1) This
Order may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment
No. 9) (Jersey) Order 2007.
(2) This
Order shall come into force on 1st January 2008.

(Article 4)
“SCHEDULE 15
(Article 107)
plate for restricted speed
VEHICLE
1. A
vehicle displays a plate in accordance with the requirements of this Schedule
if the conditions in paragraph 2 are complied with in respect of the plate.
2. The
conditions are –
(a) the plate must be in the form shown in the
diagram below;
(b) the plate must be at least 150 mm in
diameter;
(c) the figures “3” and
“0” must be at least 73 mm high, in a transport medium font, as
shown in the diagram below, the figures being black on a white background; and
(d) the border must be black and between 7 mm
and 8 mm wide.
