Sea
Fisheries (Spider Crabs – Restrictions on Fishing) (Jersey) Order 2019
1 Period during which fishing for protected spider crabs is restricted[1]
The specified period for
the purposes of Regulations 5(2) and 5A(1) of the Sea Fisheries
(Miscellaneous Provisions) (Jersey) Regulations 1998 is the period
beginning at the start of 1st September 2024 and ending at the end of 15th
October 2024.
2 Area in which use of passive gear is restricted
The specified area of the
territorial sea for the purposes of Regulation 5A(1) of the Sea Fisheries
(Miscellaneous Provisions) (Jersey) Regulations 1998 is the area which
would be bounded by lines drawn –
(a) in
the sequence set out in the Schedule; and
(b) between
and by reference to the co-ordinate points also set out in the Schedule and
determined in accordance with the World Geodetic System 1984.

4 Citation and commencement
This Order may be cited
as the Sea Fisheries (Spider Crabs – Restrictions on Fishing) (Jersey)
Order 2019 and comes into force 7 days after the day on which it is made.
Schedule
(Article 2)
Delineation of area
From a point to the south of Jersey where the UK/France median line
is intersected by the meridian of longitude 02°20.00 west, eastwards along
the median line until it is intersected by the meridian of longitude
01°55.00 west;
thence north-eastwards along that meridian until it is intersected
by the meridian of longitude of 02°00.08 west;
thence southwards along that meridian to a point
49°16.95 north, 02°00.08 west;
thence south-eastwards along a line being 3 nautical miles from
the baseline from which the territorial sea around Jersey is measured to a
point 49°05.12 north, 02°02.08 west;
thence southwards along the latter meridian of longitude to a point
49°04.47 north, 02°02.08 west;
thence north-westwards along a line being 3 nautical miles
measured from the baseline from which the territorial sea around Jersey is measured
to a point 49°12.44 north, 02°19.65 west;
thence westwards to a point 49°12.44 north, 02°24.68 west situated
on a line being 6 nautical miles measured from the baseline from which the
territorial sea around Jersey is measured;
thence south-eastwards along that line until it is intersected by
the meridian of longitude 02°20.00 west;
thence southwards along that meridian to the starting point.
