Social Security (Mariners) (Amendment No. 3) (Jersey) Order 2009

THE MINISTER FOR SOCIAL SECURITY, in pursuance of Articles 44 and 51 of the Social Security (Jersey) Law 1974[1], orders as follows –

1        Social Security (Mariners) (Jersey) Order 1974 amended

In the Social Security (Mariners) (Jersey) Order 1974[2] –

(a)     in Article 1, there is omitted “, and any other expressions to which meanings are assigned in the Merchant Shipping Acts 1894 to 1965 of the United Kingdom have the same meanings as in those Acts”; and

(b)     in Article 4(3), for “Part I, or entered in the fishing boat register under Part IV, of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894 of the United Kingdom” there is substituted “the Shipping (Registration) (Jersey) Regulations 2004”.

2        Citation

This Order may be cited as the Social Security (Mariners) (Amendment No. 3) (Jersey) Order 2009.

3        Commencement

This Order shall come into force forthwith.
